Parent Agreement

Your role as account holder, guardian permissions, and the oversight you are guaranteed.

Last updated November 2, 2026

What this agreement is

This agreement supplements the Terms of Service for every adult who enrolls a child. It describes your role as account holder, the oversight you are guaranteed, the responsibilities that stay with you, and how guardians work. Where it conflicts with the Terms of Service, this agreement governs the guardian relationship.

You hold the account

The account is yours. Each child is a profile beneath it with their own age, grade, time zone, and sign-in, and you can change any of those at any time from Family Settings.

You confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian of each child you add, or that you have the authority of one, and that the information you give us about each child is accurate. Adding a child profile is how you give us the verifiable parental consent that children’s privacy law requires; the Children’s Privacy policy explains what that consent covers.

You are responsible for the sign-ins you create for your children, for keeping them private, and for everything done under them.

The oversight you are guaranteed

You can read every message, board post, and attachment involving your child, and your child cannot disable that visibility. There is no private channel between an adult instructor and a minor anywhere in this product.

You see attendance as it happens, including the difference between attending live and watching a recording. You can export your family’s complete academic record at any time as a verified PDF.

You decide whether rewards can be redeemed without your approval, whether you are copied on every instructor message, and which recordings your child may watch. Those switches are in Family Settings and their defaults are conservative.

Additional guardians

You may authorize up to five additional guardians per child: a second parent, a stepparent, a grandparent, a tutor. Each is verified before access is granted, and each receives only the permissions you choose. Every grant, change, and removal is written to an audit log you can read.

A guardian with the "Manage guardians" permission can add and remove other guardians but cannot remove you. You remain the account holder unless you transfer the account in writing.

What stays your responsibility

Classes are live and online, and your child attends from a place you control. You are responsible for the device, the connection, and the physical environment, and for supervision appropriate to your child’s age. Classes for the youngest students assume a grown-up is nearby.

You choose which classes your child takes. Every course page states the age range, the reading, the perspective it is taught from, and whether it is graded. We ask you to read it before you enroll.

Instructors are independent contractors, vetted and recorded but not supervised in real time. If anything in a class concerns you, tell us under the Safety & Reporting policy. We act on every report, and you can withdraw your child from any class at any time.

What your child writes and uploads is screened automatically before anyone else sees it, and may be reviewed by a person, as the Terms describe. The screening is a safeguard, not a chaperone: it will sometimes hold something harmless and will not catch everything, and it is no substitute for knowing what your child is doing online. When the screening stops something your child wrote, your child sees a short message and nothing is sent; you are not contacted unless a person at the Lyceum has looked and decided there is something you should know. You can read everything your child wrote or uploaded, including anything that was held, from your own account.

Payment and refunds

You are responsible for the enrollments and purchases made under your account, including money added to the Lyceum balance and gift cards bought for other families, and including those made by a guardian you have given the "Enroll & purchase" permission. Refunds follow the Refund Policy. Money added to the Lyceum balance, and gift cards once sent, are not refundable as cash.

A gift card someone sends your family is redeemed into your Lyceum balance from the Payments page and is then shared by all your children. When you send a gift card, we pass your name and the amount to the recipient along with the code; we do not share anything else about your account.

If we need to reach you

We contact you by the email on the account for anything about your child’s safety, a change to a class, a change to these agreements, or a billing matter. Keep it current. We do not send marketing to you unless you have asked for it, and we never market to children.

Odysseus Lyceum does not discriminate on the basis of age, sex, race, national origin, disability, religion, or any other characteristic protected by law.
