Architecture, not a policy page
Because this product involves minors, safety was part of the first design conversation rather than a compliance exercise added later. Most of what follows is enforced technically, not merely promised.
No hidden channels. Ever.
There is no private, disappearing, or parent-invisible channel between an adult instructor and a minor anywhere in this product. Parents can read every direct message, board post, and attachment involving their child. A child cannot switch that off.
Verified adults
Instructors complete identity verification and background checks before they ever meet a student, and guardians are verified before they are granted access to a child profile.
Six guardians, one audit trail
Parents, stepparents, grandparents, and tutors can each hold permissioned access, and every grant, change, and removal is logged with who did it and when.
Age-appropriate by default
Public reviews show "Student, age 13" and never a full name. Attachments are scanned, reporting and blocking are one click away, and moderation is staffed, not automated.
Conservative recording policy
Minors are involved and consent law varies by state. Recording permissions, retention windows, and access rights are narrow by default.
Reviewed before launch
COPPA, FERPA applicability, state privacy law, recording consent, payment regulation, and international child-privacy requirements are all part of the pre-launch legal review.
No hidden channels. Ever.
There is no private, disappearing, or parent-invisible conversation between an adult instructor and a minor anywhere in this product, and there is no setting that creates one.
What you can read
Every direct message, every classroom board post, every reply, and every attachment involving your child, in one consolidated Child Communications screen, per child.
What your child cannot do
A student cannot disable, hide, or delete their guardians’ visibility. There is no ephemeral messaging and no student-to-student private channel.
What instructors agree to
Instructors are contractually prohibited from contacting a student outside the platform. Attempting to do so is grounds for immediate removal.
What instructors are never given
Your child’s surname and your name. An instructor sees a first name and a last initial, and addresses you by relationship while the Lyceum routes the message. They have enough to teach your child well and not enough to find your family away from here.

Six guardians per child, permissions chosen individually, and an audit trail of every grant, change, and removal.
