Presence has value
Lyceum Points are earned by showing up live, finishing what you started, reading the whole thing, and being worth listening to. They convert into tuition discounts, free classes, and scholarship credit.
The mechanic that matters most
Values are adjustable; the principle is fixed. Attending live and watching a recording are never recorded as the same thing.
Attended live
100 points
Full attendance credit and a live mark on the record. The family balance gets 100 matching points too.
Watched the recording
20 points
Completion credit so nobody falls behind, recorded clearly as a recording, never as attendance.
Five live in a row
Streak reward
Bonus points for the student and, matched, for the family. The streak shows on both the student wallet and the parent dashboard.
A seminar finished live
400 points
Completing a seminar primarily live earns a badge and 400 points, matched in the family balance, where 2,400 points cover a free one-time class.
Philosophy opens the door to everything else
Completing designated core-curriculum courses (conservative thought, Western civilization, American political thought, economics) earns credit redeemable for mainstream academic classes.
Finish Conservative Thought I and Capitalism and Its Critics, and Intro to Python is covered. Add Western Civilization I and Geometry Workshop opens too. The philosophical curriculum is the entry point to the broader ecosystem, not a silo beside it.
Points are earned for
- Live attendance
- Course completion
- Thoughtful participation
- Academic achievement
- Reading milestones
- Instructor recognition
- Completed learning pathways
What points actually buy
Rewards are per-course opt-in, so every class page states plainly whether it participates. Students see a wallet; parents see everything and can require approval before redemption.
